A joint effort by Los Angeles professional sports teams to support wildfire victims with LA Strong T-shirts is a huge success. TMZ Sports he learned that more than 30,000 items have been sold so far;
17 local organizations teamed up with Fanatics to create merchandise with the phrase “LA Strong” on Friday… as a tribute to those affected by the devastating fires.
We’re told the orders for the items, priced at $35 each, are among the most popular on the site…sold a whole bunch in the last three days.
“Since launch, LA Strong shirts/hoodies have ranked 3 of the top 4 and 5 of the top 10 selling items on the Fanatics network of sites,” a spokesperson told us.
All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
Several teams in Los Angeles have made individual donations to support their city, such as the Lakers holding a fundraiser at Crypto.com Arena before Monday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Rams and Chargers worked with the NFL and other teams to donate $5 million to the Wildfire Relief Fund.
In total, the teams have pledged a total of $8 million in donations to those affected by and fighting the fires.
