A Florida police officer has resigned amid an investigation into a wild incident in which he rear-ended his patrol car into a civilian’s car while porn on his phone was diverted.
Dashcam footage captured a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Tristan Macomber after colliding with another car, his airbag deployed during the collision; moments later he’s out of the car, picks up his phone from the floor and casually drops it on the seat, then checks on the other driver.

Two weeks after the November crash, an internal affairs report said Macomber initially blamed the crash on his brakes locking up when the car in front stopped for a school bus.
It turned out that Macomber was doing something far more visual and inappropriate.Investigators checked his dash cam and caught him visibly distracted holding his cellphone in the seconds leading up to the crash.
When questioned at first, Macomber claimed he was scrolling through text messages in a group chat with other deputies, but he later lied, admitting he was actually viewing pornography on his personal phone.
Macomber was cited for three violations: lying about the incident, using an electronic device for prohibited content, and evidence showing he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
