Britney Spears is set to take a hands-on role in the making of a biopic based on her best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me… director. John M. No revealed.
The filmmaker, who recently broke box office records with his musical Wicked , gave the update at the 2025 Golden Globes … where he confirmed that production on the British pic is in early days and assured fans that he has vision of how he wants to approach things.
As John told Entertainment Tonight, Britney intends to be “very involved” with the film.
He added… “I haven’t really started anything yet, but he’s going to be very involved. I have ideas and things, an approach, but it’s still very early.”
In fact, so early on, John is still mulling over how to go about landing the lead role… ie, should they cast the role to a veteran actress or a newcomer?
John made it clear he’s considering all options … and admitted he’s even entertained the many casting suggestions made by fans online.
He continued… “I always consider them because maybe there’s a good idea there. But we’ll have to see what the film’s approach is before we know who’s right for it.”
In August, news broke that Britney’s book was to be made into a major motion picture.In fact, Britney’s former personal assistant and longtime confidant over the summer Felicia Culota She told TMZ she wanted to Emma Roberts to: step into Britney’s dancing shoes.
Emma came up with the idea after the pitch caused quite a stir online … calling it a “true dream” to one day play Britney.
