Plenty of celebrities gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills for the 82nd iteration of the ceremony … but Aubrey wasn’t one of them, and it’s clear why.
Plaza was originally slated to present an award … though it’s unclear what or who filled in for him.
We broke the story … police and fire responded to a Los Angeles-area home around 10:30 a.m. Friday after an aide found Baena dead.
Law enforcement agencies considered the death a suicide.
Baena was known for directing Life After Beth and Horse Girl… and he co-wrote the comedy classic I Heart Hucakbees.
Actress Molly Shannon paid tribute to Sunday Baena … sharing their series of photos together, captioned with a simple “💔” emoji.
It’s also worth noting that Baena was mentioned at the Golden Globes after directing The Brutalist Brady Corbett brought him up during one of his acceptance speeches.
