Simon Murray scored a brace as Dundee beat St Mirren 2-1 at the SMiSA Stadium.
In tumultuous conditions, Murray headed home Josh Mulligan’s pinpoint cross to give the visitors the lead after half an hour.
Toyosi Olusanya expertly headed Elvis Bwomono’s pinpoint cross into the bottom corner to equalize for the hosts after 10 minutes.
But Murray headed in just after Ryan Astley’s crossbar to give Dundee a much-needed win after three consecutive defeats.
St Mirren manager Steven Robinson made just one change from the team that beat Rangers on Boxing Day, with Alex Iacoviti replacing Richard Taylor in the starting line-up.
Dundee boss Tony Docherty made two changes to the side that lost to Ross County last time out, with Finlay Robertson and Seb Palmer-Hulden replacing Anthony Portales and Scott Tifon.
The home side had their first chance in the fifth minute when Roland Idowu pounced on Robertson’s fumble and crashed into the box before unleashing a low shot that Dundee keeper Trevor Carson saved with his legs.
The visitors were dealt a double blow after 22 minutes when defenders Jordan McGee and Billy Kumetio were both forced off through injury and replaced by Ethan Ingram and Sean Kelly.
Dundee’s first chance came in the 26th minute when a mistake by Ellery Balcombe saw the ball pass to midfielder Lyall Cameron, but Alex Gogic did superbly to block the ball on the line.
However, Balcombe made amends moments later, coming out to make two saves from Oluasew Adewumi, who raced towards goal.
However, less than a minute later, Josh Mulligan’s cross was met by Murray, who headed powerfully into the corner to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
Their lead would last for just 10 minutes when St Mirren equalized through Olusanya’s brilliant goal.
Bwomono was the creator, getting to the touchline and unleashing a fiery cross that Olusanya headed into the bottom corner to equalise.
It remained level at the break, although Saints came inches away from taking the lead after the restart as Idowu released Olusanya but he could only fire into the side netting when the angle narrowed.
Palmer-Holden then got to the other end, running at the home defense and firing a powerful shot that Balcombe tipped over the bar.
The game was beginning to drift until the 67th minute when Astley’s brilliant cross once again met Murray who headed over the bar to restore the visitors’ lead.
St Mirren substitute Evan Mooney came close to equalizing in the 84th minute when he picked a ball out of the sky before firing narrowly over the bar.
That was all St Mirren could muster, although Dundee saw out the closing stages relatively comfortably to secure the three points.
