MOSCOW — Russia’s security agency said Thursday it had arrested several suspects accused of involvement in an alleged plot to kill Ukrainian military officers, following a tip-off. The assassination of a top Russian general last week
The Federal Security Service, the main successor to the KGB, known by its Russian acronym FSB, said in a statement carried by Russian news agencies that it had arrested four Russians on charges of plotting to kill senior Defense Ministry officials.
The FSB said the suspected organizers of the attacks planned to kill one of the senior officers using a remote-controlled car bomb. Also, another high-ranking military official was to be killed by an explosive device hidden in an envelope. The agency has not released the names of the soldiers who were targeted in the alleged plot.
The FSB released a video showing the arrest and interrogation of the suspects, who were not named.
The statement comes after the death of Lt. General Igor Kirillov A bomb hidden on an electric scooter parked outside his apartment building on December 17 killed him when he went to his office. Kirillov’s assistant also died shameless attack this was claimed by Ukraine and the conflict once again took to the streets of the Russian capital.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described Kirillov’s killing as a “big mistake” by Russia’s security agencies, and said they should learn from it and improve their effectiveness.
