A collective sigh of relief is going through airports around the country right now after American Airlines resumed flights early this morning, ending a brief but chaotic nationwide grounding on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The carrier suspended operations early Tuesday morning, X said in a statement that American said. “We are currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights. Your safety is our priority, and we will get you to your destination safely.”

According to the FAA, the American requested the ground stop. The landslide caused last-minute panic among travelers hoping to reach their destination in time for the holiday.
Just before 8 a.m., the Eastern airline said it was back up and running.It is not yet clear what caused the technical difficulties.
