An apparent tornado touched down in a small northern California town on Saturday, overturning cars, causing extensive damage and sending several people to the hospital.

“Emergency medical teams are giving priority to those who need the most care, and we continue to monitor the situation closely,” the police said in the news release.
The tornado caused “extensive damage” in several areas, police said.
Photos shared by police on social media showed several cars lying on their sides along the road and in a shopping center parking lot.
Weather service confirmed the tornado based on video, photos, eyewitness accounts and radar and said a survey team would further investigate the damage on the ground to determine how strong it was.
