LAS VEGAS — A slate of six Nevada Republicans has been resubmitted A false certificate to Congress which declared Donald Trump the winner of the 2020 presidential battleground election.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced the state’s on Thursday the case of fake voters It was revived in Carson City, the capital city, and a new complaint was filed this week accusing the defendants of uttering a “false instrument,” a felony. It was the original indictment it was released at the beginning of the year after a state judge ruled that Clark County, the state’s most populous county and home to Las Vegas, was the wrong venue for the case.

Ford, a Democrat, said the new case would prevent the statute of limitations from expiring while the Nevada Supreme Court considers an appeal of the judge’s ruling.

“While we disagree with the finding of improper venue and will continue to seek to overturn it, we are reserving our legal rights to prevent these false elected officials from escaping justice,” Ford said. “The actions of the false electors in 2020 violated Nevada criminal law and were a direct attempt to cast doubt on our democracy and undermine the results of a free and fair election. Justice demands that these actions not go unpunished.”

Officials said it was part of a larger seven-state scheme to keep Trump in the White House after he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. Criminal cases have also been included Michigan, Georgia and Arizona.

Trump lost in 2020 Biden by more than 30,000 votes in Nevada. An investigation by then-Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, a Republican, found no credible evidence of widespread voter fraud in the state.

The defendants are the Presidents of the State Government Michael McDonald; Clark County GOP Chairman Jesse Law; national party committee member Jim DeGraffenreid; state and Douglas County board member Shawn Meehan; Storey County Clerk Jim Hindle; and Eileen Rice, a member of the Lake Tahoe area.

In an emailed statement to The Associated Press, McDonald’s attorney, Richard Wright, called the new complaint a political move by the state’s Democratic attorney general, who also announced Thursday that he plans to run for governor in 2026.

“We will withhold further comment and address the lawsuits,” said Wright, who has frequently spoken in court on behalf of the six defendants.

Attorneys for the others did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment.

Their attorneys previously argued that Ford mishandled the case before a Democratic grand jury in Las Vegas, rather than a northern Nevada city where the alleged crimes took place.
