Manchester Box Cup: Amateur boxing tournament will be streamed live on Sky Sports on May 25 | Boxing News

The Manchester Box Cup finals will be shown live Sky Sports on May 25.

The amateur tournament will aim to showcase the talents of future stars from the region and elsewhere.

Home to famous world champions such as Ricky Hutton and Anthony Crolla, Manchester has long been at the heart of a vibrant British boxing scene in amateur and professional sport.

Boxers from the city’s famous amateur clubs, as well as from across the country and abroad, will compete in the 2025 Manchester Box Cup.

“It’s a great platform for Northwest boxing,” said tournament organizer David Pownall. “This is the fourth year, but it’s about to take it to the next level.

“Sky Sports will be a huge help. They will help promote it, produce it and take it to the next level.”

A former WBA world lightweight champion, Crolla now coaches and works with amateur boxers on Fox ABC.

He will have athletes competing in the Manchester Box Cup.

“It’s growing year on year,” Crolla said The standard is really high.

“You have kids fighting for fights outside of the championships but they get them in the Manchester Box Cup and the Box Cup because the best want to test themselves.

“You go to an amateur show, and most of the fights on the card are 50-50. You’re bound to get a handful of waistline tears, fights that could have gone either way. And they’ll have a comeback, they’ll have one.” rematches, I would like people to see more of that side of amateur boxing.

“Boxing gyms help get kids off the streets,” Crolla explained.
