Fans took to “X” to express their delight. One wrote that Carey saved the Country Music Association Awards this year. Another said Carey showed everyone how it’s done.
A third person said Carrie and Cody’s performance was the best of the night, and a fourth called the couple “amazing” and “so cute.”
Like we said…Carey wasn’t nominated for a CMA award for the first time in her career, nor was she listed as a performer at last night’s show, so it was special that she took the stage.
Meanwhile, big CMA winners included Morgan Wallen for Entertainer of the Year and Chris Stapleton for Song of the Year for White Horse.
Chris also took home Male Vocalist of the Year and Lainey Wilson took home Female Vocalist of the Year.
