All hail the King of Country Music… George Strait got her flowers at the Country Music Awards … a star-studded tribute and some impressive gear.
George was honored at an awards ceremony on Wednesday at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award … with Miranda Lambert, Laney Wilson, Chris Stapleton, Parker McCall and: Jamie Johnson tip their cowboy hats with a tribute performance.
ABC:
The band played one of George’s biggest hits, “Troubadour” … and the crowd gave him a standing ovation as he took the mic.
Jamie only joined the tribute days after the arrest for drug possession and speeding in nearby Williamson County, TN.He’s written songs for George and Willie over the years…so he wasn’t going to miss this one.
George joked during his acceptance speech that his tribute songs were so good that he was happy to be old enough to record them first 😆
Past winners of the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award include… Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Pride, Kris Kristofferson and Willy himself.
Pretty good company but make way for the king!!!
