Disney Treasure’s captain is Voyager Minnie, a version of the character dressed especially for the cruise.

The Disney the fleet is expanding.

Next month, the Disney Treasure cruise ship will make its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Caribbean, officially becoming the sixth ship in the company’s lineup.

Treasure, which is 221 meters high and 1,119 meters long, can carry 4,000 passengers and 1,555 crew members. Like other Disney cruise ships, Treasure offers themed dining, curated lounges, and great live onboard entertainment.

As the treasure sets sail, so does Disney. The company, which had not launched a new ship a decade earlier Disney Wish debuts in mid-2022, is entering an era of rapid expansion.

Disney’s fleet will double by 2031, with two ships arriving in 2025 — Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure — followed by four more Disney-branded ships and a partnership with the Oriental Land Company to bring Disney cruise vacations to Japan.

“Disney Cruise Line is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth,” said Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney’s new experiences portfolio and Disney’s signature experiences. “The demand we’re seeing right now for Disney Cruise Line is very strong. We’re a premium brand, occupancy is high, and frankly, business is doing very, very well.”

Disney cruises are part of the company’s experiences division, along with parks, resorts and consumer products. According to the company’s earnings report on Thursday, the division posted record earnings and profits Fiscal 2024Full-year revenue rose 5% to $34.15 billion and operating income rose 4% to $9.27 billion.

The experiences segment was Disney’s second-largest revenue driver last year behind its entertainment division, which accounted for $41.18 billion in fiscal 2024. However, the entertainment segment’s operating profit was lower at just $3.92 billion.

Full-year revenue growth in experiences was the strongest of any Disney division, and the company expects to see 6% to 8% revenue growth in experiences in fiscal 2025.

Disney has become a leader in the family cruise space, despite its relatively small number of ships. For comparison, all three cruise lines are the largest the carnivalWith over 100 containers, Royal Caribbeanwith more than 40, and Norwegian Cruise Lineabout 30

It’s considered slightly more expensive than Disney Carnival and Royal Caribbean for base fares, but if guests choose to upgrade to larger cabins or add food packages or experiences to their itineraries, prices are fairly similar.

Disney’s Treasure offers seven-night cruises starting at that time $4,277 for two guests and $6,994 for a family of four. These prices increase if passengers choose Halloween or Christmas related cruises.

What sets Disney apart is its innovation in cruises and its focus on storytelling, said Gavin Doyle: Founder of MickeyVisit.com.

“Disney redefined the cruise space when they came in, and that was in the way they were designing the ships, looking at the guests, serving the people on board, and also the beloved characters and intellectual properties they could integrate,” he said. .

Doyle noted that Disney accommodates diners using “rotational dining” on its cruise ships. Passengers do not eat in a large dining room; It is planned to dine in different themed restaurants. Disney also rotates restaurant staff to follow each group of travelers to their scheduled restaurant. This way, guests have the same waiters, bus attendants and restaurant managers throughout the trip, and the waiters know the guests and their preferences.

“They’re able to provide this level of customer service that feels like magic,” Doyle said.

Dive dining

While Treasure has traditional cruise line amenities aboard – luxury restaurants, pools, spas and children’s playrooms – Disney has integrated storytelling into these services to enhance guests.

Its dinnertime restaurants are immersive and feature live entertainment. Plaza de Coco, the first theatrical dining experience themed to the 2017 movie “Coco,” invites guests to gather at Mariachi Plaza for a festive meal and music.

Meanwhile, at Worlds of Marvel, guests will experience two different shows, one called “Avengers: Quantum Encounter” and the other “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix.”

The high-tech venue has multiple screens to tune in to during your meal to experience heroic adventures.

It’s also 1923, the restaurant named after the founding year of Walt Disney Animation Studios. This location is a little more subdued and elegant. It features a collection of exploration-themed artwork from modern and classic animated films.

In addition to the three main family restaurants, Treasure has several places to dine and grab quick bites during the trip. Those with a sweet tooth can head to Jumbeaux’s Sweets, which is based on the ice cream parlor in Disney’s “Zootopia.”

Treasure also offers some adult-only dining options for those traveling without children or looking to stay overnight.

Palo Steakhouse and Enchante are luxury restaurants inspired by “Beauty and the Beast” and offer gourmet Italian and French menus. The Rose, an elegant lounge at the entrance to both restaurants, offers pre-dinner aperitifs and after-dinner cocktails.

Bringing the parks to the open sea

Disney Treasure marks the first time that Disney has brought intellectual property from its parks onto a ship of its own.

The Haunted Mansion Parlor is a bar featuring ghostly design elements from the famous attraction and spirit-infused cocktails, mocktails and zero-proof drinks.

“Walt Disney World has been around for about 50 years,” Mazloum said. “Even more Disneyland. Over the years, many of our guests have grown up coming to our parks and over time you have these iconic attractions and experiences… Our Image Designer, and I have to give them a lot of credit, came up with the idea.”

“We were literally thrilled with that idea, and even more thrilled with the reception we’ve had,” he added.

One fan park property coming to the Treasure is the Jungle Cruise. Skipper Society is a place for themed cocktails and light snacks, surrounded by camp-style furniture.

Other adults-only spots include Scat Cat Lounge, based on “The Aristocats,” and Periscope Pub, based on “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

Multi-generational fun

Of course, for many, Disney cruises are a family affair.

“People often say they’re designed with families in mind, and that’s absolutely correct,” Mazloum said. “I’d go a step further and say that they’re really designed to be multi-generational so that everyone can enjoy their experiences.”

According to the International Cruise Lines Association, cruises are the best option for multigenerational travel, with one-third of families sailing with at least two generations. Another 28 percent of cruise passengers travel with three to five generations, the organization said in its annual cruise industry report released in April.

Disney has spaces for all ages. The It’s a Small World nursery offers babysitting services for children aged six months to three years, while seniors can visit Disney’s Oceaneer Club, which has a variety of dive spaces.

Families can also catch “Disney the Tale of Moana” at the Walt Disney Theater at Treasure. The Broadway-style production features a giant Te Ka puppet and introduces a new song called “Warrior Face.” Also on stage will be “Disney Seas the Adventure” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

In addition, Treasure will have the Hero Zone and the Wonderland and Never Land cinemas, popular Disney Wish spaces. The Hero Zone is a sports and entertainment zone with game show-style competitions and physical challenges, while the movie theaters are luxury screening rooms offering first-run movies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.

Like Wish, Treasure also has a Toy Story themed area, a splash pool, a kiddie pool and a family slide. There’s also an adapted version of Wish’s AquaMouse water coaster called the “Curse of the Golden Egg.”
