Trump transition live updates: Lee Zeldin picked to lead EPA

President-elect Donald Trump he hit Former New York Representative Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.

“Lee, with a very strong legal background, has been a true fighter for America First policies,” Trump said in a statement. “It will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will unleash the power of corporate America while maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet. It will set new standards for environmental review and maintenance that will make the United States It will allow them to grow in a healthy and well-structured way.”

Zeldin, who is running for governor of New York against Andrew Cuomo in 2022, confirmed he was offered the job in a post from X.

“It is an honor to join President Trump’s Cabinet as EPA Administrator,” he wrote. “We will restore America’s energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to restore American jobs, and make the US a world leader in AI. We will do this while protecting access to clean air and water.”
