President Biden to address nation from White House on Thursday

The President Joe Biden He will enter the White House Rose Garden on Thursday to address the nation after his party’s crushing defeat at the polls on Tuesday.

The White House said it would deliver the address at 11 a.m. ET.

His address will start a little more than 24 hours before his former opponent twice, Donald Trumpwas projected to have won the presidency. Trump beat Vice President Kamala Harris, as Biden conceded in July he left it aside as the party’s presumptive candidate.

Biden said Wednesday that adding Harris to his 2020 Democratic ticket was the first and “best decision” he made during the campaign. He praised Harris, saying he “led and led a historic campaign” under extraordinary circumstances.

That statement did not mention Trump, the former Republican president and now president-elect, who will end Biden’s one term.

Biden and Harris have both Called Trump to congratulate him on winning a second term. And Biden also spoke with Harris by phone on Wednesday, the White House said.

Enter Harris a speech he gave the race to Trump on Wednesday.

“Sometimes the fight takes a while… The most important thing is to never give up,” he said, speaking at Howard University in Washington, DC, his alma mater.

Biden praised Harris in a statement Wednesday, saying “her story represents the best of the American story.”

“And as he made clear today, I have no doubt that he will continue to write that story,” he said, according to the White House.
