Police are searching for a suspect who was allegedly caught on camera robbing an 83-year-old woman of her lottery winnings shortly after she claimed them from a convenience store, police said.
The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning outside a convenience store on Curry Ford Road near the intersection of S. Goldenrod Road in Orlando. Floridaaccording to a release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities released surveillance footage of the robbery on social media, in which the unnamed 83-year-old woman is seen leaving the store to her car with what appear to be lottery winnings she just collected.
The suspect, then identified by authorities as Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, can be seen walking straight up to the woman and trying to force the proceeds out of her hands as she tried to defend herself.
Another man inside the convenience store is seen walking outside and appears to be intervening between the victim and the suspect, causing Fleury to further attack the woman, attempting to steal money as the Good Samaritan attempted to pull the victim away. .
Fleury, however, can be seen dragging the woman from her car in the parking lot before eventually stealing the proceeds and fleeing.
The suspect is currently at large and is wanted for robbery, aggravated robbery and assault on a person 65 years of age or older, authorities said, and anyone with information on Fleury’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
